a wonderful new and profusely illustrated book on Windham and the surrounding area.
The Mountain Top Historical Society is proud to announce the release of Out Windham Way by Larry J. Tompkins. Larry was a 30 year board member, and former president of the MTHS. He is still a very active participant in the activities of the Society. The book is a photographic tour of Windham, Ashland, Prattsville, Maplecrest & Hensonville from 1890 through 1945. Larry is well known to Society members as an enthusiastic and personable leader of the Society's hiking program, and presenter of slide
programs on the villages and byways of the Mountain Top. His extensive knowledge of Windham and other Mountain Top towns was gleaned from visits and interviews with local residents over the past 40 years.
On Sunday October 19, Larry launched the book with a slide program and book-signing at the Center Church building in Windham. The book is available at the Mountain Top Historical Society's Visitors Center. Our Fall hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 till 4:00. You should be able to find the book, now on sale in select local shops. You can also buy it through the Blackdome Press at www.blackdomepresss.com.
